do you know the phrase "If you're not embarassed of the first version of your MVP, you shipped late?" Well that happen to, so ashamed that I am talking about my Peerlist launch only now 😅 https://dub.sh/cc/peerlist/launch
Todd Embleton
never heard that phrase, but are you phishing for peerlist launch links from Buildhop? That offends my good nature if so!
Claire Wagner
hahaha!!!!
Andrea
didn't meant to do that, just thought it was a nice way to cross promote my project. if you prefer share your feedback right here my page is https://buildhop.io/discover?launch=careercraft-ing
What does everyone think about this feedback?

This looks nice, too many tools focus too much on resume optimization, looks like this tools does the other way around.

i think they are complimenting you? maybe? saying you don't focus mostly on resume optimization, and that's good cause everyone else does?
Justin Hammon
Yeah. That was my take. There is a lot of AI slop in this space, which I actively have to fight against. Thanks for the feedback!
Claire Wagner
I agree, I think they were being nice 🤣
Justin Hammon
To be fair. The share button from the feedback field autopopulated this question LOL
Question for BuildHop - when does the weekly leaderboard start/stop? There was one launch site I won't mention, peerpush, that put me on the daily leaderboard 2 hours before it ended so I never stood a chance of getting good ranking.
Claire Wagner
great question! the weekly leaderboard starts when you are approved, and ends exactly 7 days later making it a rolling leaderboard to give you a totally fair chance (inspired by the ring...sevennnn dayyyyysss)
Todd Embleton
i knew y'all done did it gud! thanks for the clarification before I submit a new product ths week!
Jacob Counsell
Feel free to go give them a down-vote in the distribution tab! We've had a ton of Launch sites do this to LaunchChair as well, the daily leaderboards DO NOT WORK and these launch sites don't care!
Todd Embleton
first thing i did was find them and downvote them... don't piss off the wombat or our revenge will be swift! (there were other issues too)
Jacob Counsell
I doubt you'll ever see a single click from them 😂

Feature request: Can y'all add the link to the founders homepage when they ask for feedback about feedback? Would be a big QOL thing
Jacob Counsell
Heck yeah man, already coming! We discussed this the other day, super annoying to go and look for the founders homepage. Should be live this weekend or tonight. 🙌

This is super smart! I think your target ICP is actually less tech savvy than you think though, you could stand to better spell out exactly what the product does and what outcomes the user can expect.
Replying is worth 50 points · 100 with Spotlight
Hop Product@ByBewer
Now that's nice feedback! Spelling it out for the ICP sounds like a great idea, "dumbing it down" in a way :)

So it’s just an idea validator that gives you slop ideas for $39? What’s the wedge here?
Replying is worth 50 points · 100 with Spotlight
Hop Productbuildwithmaya
since you have not tried the product, not sure how you can say its slop ideas. It collects up to date signals from 22+ different sources and they are manually reviewed, it costs $39 because its lifetime and costs $$ to gather many sources
Jacob Counsell
That’s honestly some rough feedback! Maybe your points can be better reiterated on your landing page? There’s a lot of basic validators, maybe explain why you’re different? Talk more about outcomes and why there’s so many dead products?
buildwithmaya
thanks thanks! yep i will work on that, thank you for the feedback. I think I will work on the pricing as well and maybe provide a "free report" to show the quality of the ideas inside.
Jacob Counsell
Yeah, showing a little taste of what your platform does would be huge, even if it’s a generic idea or an example, let people see over the wall a little.
Oscar
Not having tried your product, I feel like this says more about the positioning of IdeaPanda rather than the product itself. Maybe you could work on differentiating yourself from competitor's landing page.

Is there anything specific you guys want me to write a guide on in terms of bootstrapped growth/distribution/marketing? I have some ideas but I would love to write something you want to read :D
@ByBewer
I'd love to read your take on bootstrapped marketing, distribution, and growth (in that order) 😄
Claire Wagner
Okeee I gotchu, do you want it all in one or one for each
@ByBewer
Awesome 🙏 Personally I think one for each would do best, right? Plus, that gives you some sweet internal cross-linking opportunities :)
Oscar
Growth and distribution for B2C pretty please. I can handle B2B (it's just targeted cold calling after all) but B2C is a whole different hell that I don't understand.
@PrimitiveHost
Your approach on building DA or building an account on X from 0 would be very interesting!

Great idea! This is also an SEO goldmine and you can do these regularly and almost effortlessly. 👏
@ByBewer
Exactly, repeatable and not too time-consuming. Thanks dude!! 🙏

What does everyone think about this feedback?

yet another task management app. what REAL problem are you solving? if the person is too careless to use a calendar correctly, how does using your app help them?
Replying is worth 50 points · 100 with Spotlight
Hop ProductKathleen Plankenhorn
Fair challenge. YHT isn’t for careless people. It’s for people who are overwhelmed, avoidant, or have ADHD. The calendar isn’t the problem. Starting is. YHT helps you decide: do it, delegate it, or get it handled. Thoughts?
Jacob Counsell
I can see where the feedback is coming from, but I also totally see the wedge you’re going for, I guess the problem is it’s not well described on your homepage. Maybe explain the problem and how your wedge solves it better?
Kathleen Plankenhorn
Thanks for the feedback. I've updated the landing page to make the differentiator clearer. Appreciate the push.
Jacob Counsell
That’s awesome! The best thing a founder can do is objectively asses feedback and iterate accordingly if there’s any validity. But assume if one user is thinking something there may be others.
Todd Embleton
similar to the previous feedback too - and I agree with jacob - landing page updates to really show why YHT can help / is better than other apps
What does everyone think about this feedback?

what makes this better than all the other time management apps?
Replying is worth 50 points · 100 with Spotlight
Hop ProductKathleen Plankenhorn
Not just a task app — YHT finds your real free time, tracks how long you’ve avoided each task, and gives 4 paths: do it, AI it, delegate it, or book a service. No streaks, no shame. Thoughts from fellow founders?
Jacob Counsell
It’s actually decent feedback. It’s easy to take offense to feedback like this, but if you consider where it’s coming from and iterate you’ll win. I think with some homepage iteration your value prop will be immediate.
Kathleen Plankenhorn
I thought it was a great question, and I'm glad we got to have some dialogue about it.
Jacob Counsell
I’m sure others will chime in as well!
Todd Embleton
I agree - while it could have been worded differently to be more constructive, it shows they don't know why to use YOUR app. To me that points to landing page improvement to show why YHT is better than the others.

Feature Request! Don't hop products that have been hopped already - maybe have them in a "already hopped" list or something? Another one - leave not anonymous feedback for extra carrots (hop points)
@PrimitiveHost
Both seem very reasonable and would love to see them implemented!
Jacob Counsell
We could totally have feedback expose users given we know the trust is there and approved BuildHop users aren't likely to spam other users. Then just keep un-authed feedback anonymous. BUT, anonymous feedback you cant defend pushes change.
Jacob Counsell
We have an algorithm change coming soon that's been finished for awhile. Users won't hop what they've already hopped unless they reach the end and hop again. But this will only be persistent for logged in users.
@PrimitiveHost
Looking forward to the hopping algorithm release!
Todd Embleton
yes, with a side of yup - *perfect* - I should have known y'all read my future mind last week.

There are many other competitors out there with the same concept. In any case, good job!
Replying is worth 50 points · 100 with Spotlight
Hop ProductTodd Embleton
it's not super useful. most products have competitors, what can you suggest to make this one stand out...
Jacob Counsell
I agree that it's a very saturated space, what is your market wedge? How is your product different from competitors? This isn't to say you can't be successful in that space with a ton of competition. But you'll need a wedge!
@PrimitiveHost
Most competitors have way smaller datasets, do half of the domain monitoring checks we do and are sold at higher prices. Curious to see what are those other competitors offering the same value for money services.
Jacob Counsell
I think you could probably stand to hammer that point hard on the landing page, might be a nice test for you to do.
