Who are you, and what kind of problems do you like working on?
I am me, and me I am. I've been around computers and programming since the dawn of the internet. BASIC started it all for me... I like building tools that improve processes, or help to solve productivity issues. Lately I've been building tools that I needed - job search, camping search... So maybe I just like to make life easier for my users.
Question 2 of 7
What are you building or working on right now?
Camprtron has taken over as my main project. WorkWomp started my journey though and it's still alive and kicking.
Camprtron is a niche campsite searching platform. It helps you find campsites that are close to the activities you love to do, which rather interesting specificity - A mountain that is over 12000' tall, and is within a 30 minute drive of the site. also within 300' of a perennial water source that can be filtered for drinking/cleaning.
WorkWomp is a platform designed to help job seekers find jobs that actually improve their quality of life. not just a paycheck and a skills match, but a job where the morals and and lifestyle of the job itself matches the person.
Question 3 of 7
What got you started on this?
For build in public? It was definitely job hunting. I was so tired of interviewing multiple times with companies and having trouble remembering what company had what perks, which sounded like a terrible fit for my personality, etc. Additionally. I got tired of updating spreadsheets. I built WorkWomp to handle all of that AND provide accurate rankings of my active job applications. I got my new job within 3 weeks of building and using WorkWomp and decided I should share it with everyone
Question 4 of 7
What's one thing that's changed your mind since you started building?
It's super hard to sell your product to people who are looking for work.
Marketing is way harder than it sounds, even after you've thought about it for a while.
Question 5 of 7
What's a moment that told you something was actually working?
When it worked for me? haha - when I had users sign up that I didn't know who they were. at least that the marketing was starting to work.
Question 6 of 7
What's something you're stuck on right now, in any of your projects?
marketing, marketing, marketing.
Question 7 of 7
What's one thing you'd want to share with first-time builders?
like everyone says - verify your product ideas before you go all in. even with vibe coded apps it still takes time and costs money to get it to a place that you can show the world. Also start thinking and working on your marketing game plan from day 1 - it goes hand in hand with researching your customers.

Huge update out today!
Camprtron now supports offline maps, and installing the app directly to your iOS and Android devices
Simply browse a campsite, then click "save offline" and you can have topographic maps available if you lose service on your adventure!
When in browser, you can use the share menu to save the app directly to your device for even easier access to campsite searching.

100% - it's out now! PWA and offline mode is now supported. PWA allows your saved maps to stay on device for up to 30 days instead of potentially only up to 7.
Making one small adjustment to the blog page about it, then I'll post that link too
design is clean though the background patterns is quite distracting as I scroll the site. For badges, would be good to use colors or icons so user could glance through listing faster.
I looked at this website months ago and i'm pretty blown away by how much nicer it looks today. The only thing really driving me crazy right now is the map style itself and the hero background image, the hero background image is way too busy.
The map style itself is super heavy, maybe consider pulling in your brand colors and styling the map itself to better fit your brand style. You could also just use mapbox or similar free mapping libraries to style your map.
Not super sure I know what you mean by heavy and not fitting my brand style. all the icons are custom for Camprtron, and the colors match pretty close to the site itself. Would love to discuss if you're open to DM'ing me on X @Inglehoff
Having trouble understanding what they mean by heavy, as well as the styling. The map uses custom icons that are used elsewhere in the app as well and the color theme matches pretty well.. Am I missing something obvious cause I got 2 feedbacks basically saying the exact same thing within 2 minutes.
Please let me know what you meant if you see this reply!

Why are there 3 cards in a 4 card layout? This empty space feels broken. Maybe add a 4th card or make 3 conjoined and responsive cards on a single row?
Yeah, I agree. I think i moved them to reduce how much was on the landing page.. Might have to play around with that and see if I can't make it look clean adding them back to it.
Love the immersive imagery on the landing page, gives a strong impression and helps with the product positioning. I like that there's an obvious free trial option too
Not sure I know what you mean by tags - the green buttons? Also we released an updated landing page, so check it out and let me know if you still have issues with green tags
Maybe add a 4th card purely so there isn't a huge empty spot here for desktop users? I'd also consider conjoining these cards so that less space is eaten up by this section on both desktop and mobile.
Maybe instead of having these items live in their own container you move the "Start your free trial" button into this container and conjoin this container to the base of the section above it.
Thanks for the tip! This was cleaned up in the latest release - great suggestion to merge them together. It definitely looks cleaner and more intentional now
I'd consider giving these cards a hard left edge with no redii just so the colored bumper you're using doesn't try to adhere to the rounded corners, this will look way cleaner and look less heavy.
Finally added a comparison table between my closest competitors. I was actually surprised how well I stacked up after making the grid. Let me know if i'm delusional and should burn it all to the ground.
