100 Cigarettes looks like a t-shirt website, but it's not. The t-shirts it sells are ridiculous. The fun for tech people is that every single shirt is going to be sold using an absurd pricing mechanic. The original cigarettes t-shirt started at a cost of $1 and gets $1 more expensive every time someone buys it. Cigarettes 2 is anchored to bitcoin, so the price goes up and down with the market. The third shirt is the coolest yet, but I'm not going to give it away. I'm going to build 100 unique pricing mechanics. One for each shirt.

It was a joke. People really liked the joke. I liked that people liked the joke. It was invigorating. So I decided to pursue it.

My first launch got a lot of unexpected attention. For my second launch, I expected the same, but got nothing. I didn't think I'd have to focus so much on building an attention machine in order to make this a success.

I sold almost 50 shirts in three days. There were posts about it on social media. I got invited to New York Fashion Week over a shirt that says cigarettes. I could tell by the joy this was bringing people that I had something.

I'm trying to figure out the best way to get exposure. I think it is through social media, but I don't understand social media. So I'm spending a lot of time learning it.

There is an absurd notion that working for someone else's company is safer than starting your own thing. I bet everyone you know in stable jobs are either miserable or fired. Not pursuing your project has WAY more cost than the average person appreciates.
