About AWNA

AWNA: a wee notch for your Windows PC

AWNA puts a small notch at the top of your Windows screen. It shows the one thing you'd want to know right now, and opens into your meetings, tasks, notes, timer, music and more.

AWNA's Dictate Anywhere feature is now live (v1.1.0)! Hold down the Ctrl + Win keys and then talk. Let go, and what you said is typed wherever you're typing, or wherever you point. It all happens locally on your PC. Nothing you say is sent anywhere. https://t.co/V8zKPqe41n

this is a very useful tool for a windows pc user like me. But my question is, will what I do with AWNA directly reflect/get stored on my PC, or does it have it own environment separate from the PC

Great Feedback

Thanks so much, I'm glad you find it useful! There's no special environment separate from the PC; it's just an ordinary Windows app. Things like tasks, notes, and your settings are saved in your PC's AppData directory. The 'Shelf' tab keeps a link to files in your normal folders and doesn't copy them. Screenshots from the 'Capture' tab go to your normal Pictures/Screenshots folder. Nothing you put in AWNA gets uploaded anywhere. Hope that helps. Do reach out if you have any more questions.

"Tested AWNA and it’s brilliant! Bringing the Mac-style notch to Windows is executed perfectly. The 'Shelf' for file parking and 'Capture' tools are absolute game-changers. Quick suggestion: Add a brief interactive onboarding tour on first launch to help new users discover shortcuts (like Ctrl+Alt+Space) faster. Overall, a highly polished utility that feels like a native Windows feature. Great job!"

Thank you so much! That's made my day. I wasn't sure about an onboarding tour when first designing, but I think it'll reveal certain features people wouldn't otherwise discover until later on. I'll look into it. Thanks again!

neat product, how about it's visibility in full screen stuff?

Thanks! With a maximised window (not fullscreen), the notch will go into a "slim" mode where it is a thin line out of the way of tabs, for example, and you can still hover over it to open. You can also set how long to rest on it before it opens (up to about a second), so it doesn't unintentionally pop open as you mouse along the top of the screen. For fullscreen applications, the notch disappears altogether until you're back out of fullscreen mode. Hope that helps!

Love the simplicity and thoughtfulness of the notch and the design. Stays out the way when you dont need it. Has everything in one place.

Fixing This

I'm working on trimming down the landing page. I agree it's a bit wordy when the interactive demo is an accurate representation of the app. Cheers!

Is there a mac version? And not really sure about how useful this is.

No, there's no Mac version I'm afraid, sorry! It's useful in that it collects lots of handy productivity tools in one easy-to-find quick-access place, so no need to hop about different menus or manage different keyboard shortcuts. Thanks!

Interesting idea - do you mean positioning the notch at either side or a corner? I can note it as a future expansion, thanks!

It sounds cool at first, but the more I think about it, I dont see how this improves windows? The task bar does all of this, and the start bar too. maybe add a section highlighting why this works better than the built in windows feature

Hey, thanks very much for the feedback. You're not wrong, you can do these things throughout Windows just fine. AWNA's just a minimalistic way of bringing all these useful tools together in an easy-to-find place. It saves on memorising keyboard shortcuts and going to different places for different things. I'll think about how I can compare using the native Windows features vs. AWNA in the landing page. Cheers!
