Question 1 of 7
I'm Jaime (AKA GROOT). Yes, like the Guardians of the Galaxy IAMGROOT, just with a funny story on how that came to be. I have been in ad agencies for over two decades, doing strategy and analytics for a ton of different industries. The thing that I chase the most lies in my passion for marketing strategy, the story in the numbers, and the consumer's mind. I am obsessed with creating narratives that make brands connect because it pushes me to understand the buyer a heck of a lot more. That is where my AI building lives, in the intersection of what buyers want and brands say they have. I am building tools that help everyone find their own story, know the best way to get it to their customers, and learn whether it worked.
Question 2 of 7
My main focus is GROOT-OS, which one day will be essentially an agency-in-a-box. Right now, it's a marketing planning tool that runs a real conversation with a strategist or a business owner and converts it into a marketing plan. The reason this will supersede tools like it in the market is that it is a virtual strategist built by a real strategist who has lived nearly every seat in agencies. Most tools like this try to do too much, overcomplicate life, and as such feel scattered. GROOT-OS is my virtual strategy mind that looks to simplify life, make it collaborative, and fire off a plan in plain language that can be defended easily. It is about simplifying the process that helps you ideate a plan to life, in minutes and not weeks. This solves many problems in the industry, like the time it takes to build a working draft, factoring in many lenses, and answering key problems along the way. This is the benefit of having been the strategist, the negotiator, the analyst, the client manager, and even the client. I am able to train GROOT-OS to think like each so no one else has to. GROOT-OS, senior strategy for all!
Question 3 of 7
Well, I had just been let go from another agency (for the 8th time in 10 years). I was done building other people's dreams. I knew I wanted to create something for my own. Then, my neighbor asked me to help him with his business. So I spun up a bot that would help him learn marketing at an easy level. That was the start of an epiphany that there was a need for owners who cannot afford senior strategy. That epiphany was sealed after getting requests on how to teach someone to train an LLM on marketing. I knew what had to be done, and I knew I could do it off the top of my head and experience. It was at that moment, with my wife, in prayer, that I saw a new calling. I was going to build a virtual me that gives the little guy a fighting chance at senior strategy. I was going to build something conversationally easy that partnered with owner-operators or small/mid-size agency strategy teams to give them my experience without paying huge agency fees to get it. That calling was essentially to democratize senior strategy thinking while lacing it with my curiosity and ambition!
Question 4 of 7
NOTHING! In fact, the opposite happened. I doubted this would be a big thing, and every time I show it to someone, the feedback is more than encouraging. So, if anything, I feel this has the potential to be bigger than I imagined.
Question 5 of 7
EVERY BOARDY MEETING. Truly. Every demo I have done has given me incredible encouragement.
Question 6 of 7
The biggest thing I am stuck on is making the discovery session conversation more natural. My vision is for GROOT-OS to deviate, encourage, brainstorm, and react just like a strategist would in a discovery session.
Question 7 of 7
I am not a professional builder by any means, and everyone I meet who has built something typically has done something incredibly inspired. So, the only advice I can offer is to first create the spec and structure in your mind before you build anything. My greatest advantage is seeing so clearly what I think everything should look like. I see it so clearly that when things got stuck, I got on PowerPoint and drew it up. That level os intimacy with what you are building and the vision is critical.
